Plot Summary: The third part (with Suspiria (1977) and Inferno (1980)) of a trilogy of films about the "Three Mothers."
The final installment of Dario Argento's "Three Mothers" trilogy. The film centers on a young American art student, Sarah Mandy (Asia Argento), who "unwittingly opens an ancient urn that unleashes the demonic power of the world's most powerful witch. As a scourge of suicides plague the city and witches from all over the world converge on Rome to pay homage, Sarah must use all her own psychic powers to stop the 'Mother of Tears' before her evil conquers the world."
This is Asia's fourth film under Dario's direction.
It's been 8 years since Asia last worked under Dario's direction.
It's the first time that Daria Nicolodi makes a film with Dario since they split in 1986.
Daria Nicolodi helped writing the screenplay of Suspiria and contributed with the original idea behind the Mothers trilogy. According to Asia, it was inspired by Daria's grandmother who was a piano student and also a white witch.
